About EMOMs
Membership
EMOMs membership is open to all* parents or guardians of multiple birth children. Our primary service area includes Seattle's Eastside: Bellevue, north to Bothell, east to North Bend, south to Renton, and west to Lake Washington. The majority of our members live on the Eastside, and most of our official club functions - including meetings and social events - take place on the Eastside as well. There are many multiples organizations serving Western Washington. If you have multiples and live outside EMOMs' primary service area, we encourage you to contact the local organization closest to you. (See links to right.) |

Club History
Eastside Mothers of Multiples has been in existence since 1969, known at that time as Eastside Double Delights Mothers of Twins Club. It started with 23 members and has changed a bit over the years. In the last 10 years, the club name was changed to reflect membership of mothers of triplets and quadruplets. Current membership includes some fathers. EMOMs has grown to a vital, exciting group of over 500 parents of multiples. According to the National Organization of Mothers of Twins Clubs, we are likely among the largest five clubs in the US.
Why join an organization for families with multiples?
One of the best aspects of EMOMs is the association and communication with other parents of multiples. Often you will discover that the problems and frustrations you encounter in raising your multiples have been experienced by other members, and it is extremely beneficial to discuss them with someone who understands - because they have been there! Their suggestions and insight can mean a great deal. Being a parent of multiples can be challenging, but it is definitely a special thing. EMOMs celebrates parenting multiples.
What keeps EMOMs going?
EMOMs is a 100% volunteer organization. Besides being essential to the club, volunteering is fun and a great way to meet people. Sometimes it can be a great excuse to get away from the kids, an opportunity to feel productive at home, or a way to include the kids and the family. Often, new families of multiples are overwhelmed in the first year or two, but are then able to give back as their multiples get older. Information regarding volunteer opportunities is available on the member website.
Regional Affiliation
Eastside Mothers of Multiples is a member of the Northwest Association of Mothers of Twins Clubs (NWAMOTC). This organization ties together local clubs from Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Alaska, and British Columbia. Through the Northwest Association, members of local clubs gather twice a year to conduct business and establish further ties with the special community of mothers of multiples. Membership in EMOMs automatically provides membership in the Northwest organization, which distributes newsletters (The Twin-O-Gram) and support materials.
